In our The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road preview article, we go to the West Weald region, which we are familiar with from Oblivion, with the Gold Road, the newest episode of TESO.
With Gold Road, the newest Chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online, a MMORPG set in the Elder Scrolls universe, we are heading to the West Weald region that we are familiar with from Oblivion. Moreover, a Deadric Prince, rarely mentioned in the Elder Scrolls universe but not encountered before, awaits us.

Forgotten Deadric Prince Returns
The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road, just like the previous development packages (Chapter), is a full package. A region that we know from Oblivion, which includes three different areas, the chance to learn information about the Ayleid (wood) elves that we have not seen before, Scribing, a system that is close to the Spellcrafting system that TES players are familiar with, and many new features await us. But the part that caught my attention the most was the introduction of a brand new Deadric Prince, which we have not seen before except for very small information.
The story of the Necrom pack released last year ended in a rather exciting way, with an event that we can call a “cliffhanger”, which they don’t normally do. Daedric Prince Ithelia, who was erased from everyone’s memories except the main character of Necrom, Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora, has been released again and is slowly regaining her memories. So who is he, what is he, what kind of an effect does he have on Tamriel and who released him? We expect to learn the answers to these questions in the upcoming pre-Chapter update and the Necrom pack that will be released in the summer.

After Ithelia appeared in the trailer, we had a lot of questions for Rich Lambert, not only did we know very little about her, but we also wanted her concept art and wallpapers. Unfortunately, most of these questions remained unanswered, and we will experience Ithelia’s adventure of regaining her memories and what happens next for ourselves. However, he is a powerful Deadric Prince known as the “Fate-Changer”, who has the ability to shape fate as he wishes. Now that he has been freed and is regaining his memories, we don’t think he will ignore what happened. (They didn’t provide any wallpapers either)
The Gold Road adventure, where we will follow Ithelia, will take place in the West Weald region, which we had the chance to visit a part of in Oblivion. This region is divided into three. The Gold Road, outside of Skingrad, which will be the main city, the mountainous region of the Colovian Highlands, and the Valenwood Annexation, which transformed into a rainforest in an incredible way overnight. The confusion of the people who sleep at home at night and see the tree passing through in the morning is understandable. I say that we will examine this.

Last year, the Arcanist class was added to the game with Necrom. This year, instead of a new class, Gold Road brings a different version of a system that is highly requested by players, Scribing. It is not as advanced as Spellcrafting, but thanks to Scribing, we will have customizable skills. The Scribing system will have three different variables, according to Lambert, who answered our questions. First, we will choose the Grimoire that we determine the main skill, then we will make changes with the Scripts that we will use for customization. The last part is Ink, which we can see as the source of this system, we will provide the writing of the skill.
In the example they gave us, an archer who jumps back while shooting an arrow could change the properties of this arrow using Scribing, and make the arrow he shot while jumping back have poisonous or healing properties. When asked how the ability used by opposing players would be distinguished as a result of these changes, he said, “The main ability will be fixed, so no matter what kind of customizations a player makes, you will know what they are using because they will still jump in the air and shoot an arrow.” In other words, we won’t have the chance to create completely different new abilities, but the customization system seems quite extensive as it is.
With the Styling system that comes with Scribing, we’ll be able to add some colors to our abilities and make visual improvements. For now, this system will work with simple things like changing ability colors, but according to Lambert, the door is always open to creating new effects and custom skins in the future.

10 Years of The Elder Scrolls Online
The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road will have almost everything we expect from a new ESO Chapter. It will be a long and enjoyable adventure, a quest specific to the Scribing system, new world events, a new 12-person Trial, and new Public Dungeons. The companion NPC characters (Companions), which started to be added to the game in 2021 and which we are used to coming with new Chapter expansions, are a bit late this time. Lambert, who said that they wanted to focus more on the story side, stated that our new companions will not come at the beginning of the package, but will come after the package is released, probably towards the end of the year.
Another topic that was mentioned during the presentation was about the anniversary events of The Elder Scrolls Online, which has been in our lives for exactly 10 years. Although PC players are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the game, they said that they have different plans on the console side since it was released 1 year later and that they are planning a big event in 2025. We saw in the presentation last night that the 10th anniversary celebrations will last almost 15 months! I don’t know if there is a celebration in Türkiye, but I will follow this topic.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road Chapter will be released for PC/Mac users on June 3. Xbox and PlayStation console players will be able to access the new package on June 18. In the meantime, we asked Lambert about cross-play, but it doesn’t seem to be in the plans at the moment. I can’t imagine the chaos that would occur with a possible cross-play anyway.
Before Gold Road, the first DLC called Scions of Ithelia will be released to provide the flow of the story. This PvE DLC will include dungeons called Oathsword Pit and Bedlam Veil, and we will see the introduction of what will happen in Gold Road as a result of the events that took place. Scions of Ithelia’s new dungeon DLC is coming to PC/Mac players on March 11, while players on Xbox and PlayStation consoles will be able to access the new DLC on March 26.
