Participating in closed beta tests is a unique opportunity for players to experience a game before it’s released and provide feedback to the developers. Recently, we had the chance to participate in the closed beta test of Bandai Namco’s highly anticipated shooter SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada . In this article, we will share our thoughts on the game’s mechanics, gameplay, and areas that need improvement. If you’re curious about the full game, this review will help guide you.

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada Beta Review / PC

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is a shooter game that takes players to a future universe with survival-themed elements. In the game, we control characters called Drifters and explore the planet Amasia to collect AO crystals. These valuable crystals are of great importance both for economic gain and for supporting your progress.

Game Mechanics and Gameplay Dynamics

The game gives players mecha-like vehicles called Coffincrable, and these vehicles are one of the most important building blocks of the game. You can customize your mechas in various ways, which allows you to develop strategies according to your play style. In addition, your artificial intelligence companion, called Magus, adds a different dimension to the atmosphere of the game.

The game requires you to compete not only against creatures but also against other Drifters. This makes the fight more intense and challenging. In each mission, your main goal is to collect crystals and return them safely to base. However, in the process, you face obstacles from both creatures and other Drifters. Developing a balanced strategy against both sides is one of the enjoyable and challenging aspects of the game.

AO Crystals: The Key to Survival

The game is centered around AO crystals. Collecting these crystals doesn’t just mean scoring points, but also returning them safely to base is one of the main goals of the game. Crystals provide funds that unlock bigger and more challenging missions in later stages. However, each crystal hunt also brings with it tough enemies and competition from other players.

One of the most striking features of the game is that everything you collect is lost when you die. If you fail a battle, you lose both crystals and most of your equipment, including your mecha. This requires players to plan each move more carefully and adds a serious risk-benefit balance to the game.

Environmental Exploration and Resource Management

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada’s closed beta test offers players the opportunity to explore a wide environment. Collecting resources on the map is one of the basic building blocks of the game. However, these resources are limited and not always easy to reach. Some resources are guarded by powerful enemies, and collecting them can be very risky. In addition, since your mecha has limited energy levels in the game, you need to plan your time spent on the surface carefully.

Gameplay and Combat Dynamics

The game’s crafting system allows players to create their own strategies. However, for this system to be fully effective, resource management needs to be improved. Your Mecha’s inventory is quite limited, with only 100 slots available. This can make the gameplay experience difficult, as basic items like ammo quickly fill up this space. It would be a big plus if the developers improved this inventory management in the full version.

We also observed some control and hitbox issues in the game. This can sometimes be a huge disadvantage during combat. However, we hope these issues will be fixed in the full version.

Graphics and Sound Design

Despite being in closed beta, it is possible to say that the game’s graphics are quite impressive. Detailed environments and lighting effects give the player the feeling of being in a world set in the future. However, some graphical errors and frame drops can be observed. We think these should be fixed in the final version. Sound design is one of the important elements that complete the atmosphere. Mecha sounds, explosions and environmental sounds allow the player to dive into the game even more.

Aspects that need to be improved

When we look at the general structure of the game, there are points that need to be improved, especially on inventory management and controls. The current inventory system can prevent players from playing the game more smoothly. In addition, hit boxes in battles and occasional delays in controls slow down the game’s speed. In addition, graphical optimization should definitely be addressed in the full version.

General Evaluation

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is one of Bandai Namco’s promising new shooters. During our time in the closed beta test, we clearly saw the potential of the game. It offers a remarkable gaming experience with its crystal collecting mechanics, competitive structure and customizable mecha systems. Although there are some issues, we believe that most of them will be fixed in the full version.
