System Shock Remake Review

We’ve put together what we can think of ahead of the game’s release in May. What kind of game will System Shock Remake be?

While we wait for the release of System Shock Remake these days , we wanted to take a look at the first version of the game and see what awaits us. System Shock is widely considered a beloved classic. It had revolutionary features for video games. It is the most important and prominent game of the series and has a special place in the history of games.

What kind of game will System Shock Remake be? Is it worth playing?

System Shock, which was notorious for being so demanding on the systems when it was released, was a terrifyingly difficult game to play. It became more bearable after years of fans patching the game. You’ll understand when I say that the original game didn’t even have mouse control.

Even though there was no mouse in the first production, there were many advanced graphic options, settings that allowed you to make adjustments to the engine even for that day. You could even edit the animations of the weapons used in the game and the frame design. With so much customization, it was inevitable that players would keep the production alive for many years, no matter how much they played.

In System Shock, we control an anonymous hacker. The hacker is caught trying to access protected files on the main computer named SHODAN located in the Citadel Space Station orbiting Saturn and is caught and punished. He is put to sleep in a medical room on the Space Station.

SHODAN

The main story of System Shock begins here, with our character waking up from his sleep and finding the station in a terrible state. While he was sleeping, SHODAN began to massacre and experiment on the ship’s crew, and anarchy reigned over Citadel Station.

Shortly after being revived, we receive a message from Rebecca Lansing, a counter-terrorism consultant hired by TriOptimum to contain the Citadel Station disaster. For whatever reason, the hacker’s presence in the medical bay has gone unnoticed by the system, and she tells us that their best hope of stopping SHODAN, who is now making plans to attack Earth, is through her neural interface. She explains that if they hope to defeat her, they must eventually travel to the bridge level of the station, where SHODAN’s main CPU is located.

After this, our story begins. We have to fight mutants and robots in order to progress and complete our mission in the station that has become a claustrophobic cyber nightmare. This is where the most important feature of the game comes into play. It’s like we’re mice in a maze. While every room you enter opens up to another room, finding your way in the space station is a bit of a matter of luck.

Even though we have a mini-map, we embark on a complex adventure as we progress through the stacked floors to reach a higher level.

System Shock, which has a similar structure to Doom, also carries its influence. As we move between floors, we both gain new weapons and try to heal ourselves with the various medical bags we find.

Is System Shock Remake worth playing?

As you progress, the sounds of the environment can often create tension. After a while, the screams lost among the computer sounds put the thought “Will I be among those screams?” in the back of your mind.

In the increasing difficulty level, when you see a robot you have seen before, you will question why your old weapon did not create enough effect when you see it again in an upgraded level. This will lead you to find new weapons and bullets. In the later levels, you will even have a weapon that gives electric shocks.

Speaking of weapons, in the original game we were able to hold seven weapons. I don’t know if this number will be changed in the remake. However, in today’s games, considering the element of reality, we are generally allowed to carry a pistol and a rifle.

Hello mutants

If you plan on playing System Shock Remake, keep in mind that you will die many times. The game can be extremely difficult at times even on normal levels. Unseen enemies are very helpful in returning to your last save point in a few hits.

The main goal of the space station, which is full of traps and puzzles, is to destroy you. For this reason, you should approach the game like a death angel and strain all your muscles to destroy everything in front of you as quickly as possible. This includes your brain. Because sometimes an unexpected puzzle can affect your progress in the later parts of the game.

Are you ready to come back to life?

System Shock generally progresses in a structure based on challenging the player. However, it is also one of the productions that are most inclined to speedrun among players, which is to finish the game in the shortest time possible. The first game took six hours and 48 minutes to complete in the shortest time possible. This record from two years ago was followed by a record of seven and a half hours a year later.

It’s impressive that people are still playing the game, even though it’s almost 30 years old. Who knows, System Shock Remake might be played for another 30 years and then REREMAKE will come out.
